2020

Taxpal’s journey commenced in 2020 with its predecessor, Mileage Reclaim, evolving into what is now Taxbuddi. Starting as a small team based in a barn office, our mission was clear: to assist employed individuals in reclaiming expenses incurred during work, alleviating the financial burden they faced.

2021

In 2022, as TaxPal expanded, it became apparent that numerous individuals lacked a comprehensive understanding of the tax system. Many were unsure about their tax allowances and which expenses were eligible for reclaiming. This uncertainty often led to stress and confusion while navigating the complexities of tax rebates.

However, with our enhanced service, we aim to alleviate almost all of these concerns. Each client is paired with a dedicated personal tax accountant, providing ongoing support and guidance. We believe that this level of care and attention is crucial, which is why expansion was deemed necessary to better serve all our clients.

2022

In 2022, we embraced our expanded service with a significant growth in our team, increasing by 70%. This expansion included additional account managers, accountants, and administrative staff, aimed at accelerating our service and response times.

Our B2B partnerships and service supply contracts continued to flourish during this period. Additionally, we initiated our first round of annual repeat rebates, extending this valuable service to all our clients on an annual basis.

2023

Taxpal boasts a team exceeding 20 professionals and has established new offices in Birmingham City Center. Our commitment to excellence is evident as we consistently onboard new clients and secure tax rebate service supply contracts. We remain dedicated to keeping you informed about changes in tax rebate laws, managing your repeat claims efficiently, and sustaining our remarkable growth trajectory.

2024

Taxpal’s remarkable growth trajectory persisted throughout 2023 and extended into 2024. Our team has flourished, now comprising 70 dedicated professionals. We’ve expanded our Head Office in Birmingham and established new offices in Manchester, alongside support offices in Kerala, India. Furthermore, we’ve established a new management and operations base in Dubai.

In terms of our tax rebate services, we achieved a record-breaking £25 million in claims, benefitting over 25,000 clients. As we forge ahead into 2024, we anticipate even greater success on the horizon.

British taxpayers can seek tax relief for business-related travel, up to 45p per mile. If you’re a typical taxpayer under the PAYE system, you can retrospectively claim from April 2019. Currently, claims are applicable for the tax years 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22, and 2022/23. The precise reimbursement is contingent on your business mileage, other work-related costs, and any employer reimbursements for mileage or expenses.

According to HMRC, a tax rebate is provided when the tax paid exceeds the amount owed. Essentially, if you’ve paid more taxes than required, you’re eligible for an HMRC tax refund. If you’ve incurred expenses for temporary work sites, you’re likely entitled to tax reimbursement. “Temporary” refers to workplaces where you’ve spent less than 24 months continuously. It’s important to ensure you receive your rightful refund, as you can claim refunds for up to four years.

As per HMRC, a tax rebate is issued when the tax paid exceeds the amount owed. In essence, if you’ve overpaid taxes, you’re eligible for an HMRC tax refund. When you accumulate expenses for temporary work sites, you likely qualify for tax reimbursement. “Temporary” denotes workplaces where you’ve spent less than 24 months continuously. It’s prudent to ensure you receive the accurate amount, as you can claim refunds for up to four years.

To be eligible, you need to be employed under either PAYE or CIS, have an annual income of at least £18,000, and commute to various work sites.

Certain employers may lack awareness or fail to compensate their employees adequately for work-related travel as recommended by HMRC. To ensure equitable reimbursement for mileage expenses, individuals can reclaim money through a mileage tax rebate. HMRC sets a recommended tax allowance of 45p per mile (under 10,000 miles) for cars/vans, 24p per mile for motorcycles, and 20p per mile for bikes. It’s expected that your employer pays this amount, and if they fail to do so, you may be eligible to claim the difference you haven’t received.

The claim thresholds are established at 45p per mile for cars/vans (for up to 10,000 miles), 24p per mile for motorcycles, and 20p per mile for bicycles. Owners of vehicles should guarantee they can afford maintenance expenses surpassing the suggested reimbursement sum.
